What other main categories do we need?

The category Other should cover most odds and ends, less popular or known areas, and other esoteric topics.

Certainly, those topics that become noticeably popular on CCC will naturally gain their own categories.

However, if you feel there's something specific that deserves its own category now, feel free to suggest it in the comments below.

Thank you.

What about children ghosts.  How many people believe the spirit of a child could be trapped here with us and how many think there may be something more sinister at play behind it.

Hi,

First let me say "Thank You" for the invite.  I am very excited to be a part of this group.

I do have a suggestion for another Category.  How about one "Introductions?" A place for everyone to introduce ourselves and let everyone know a little about ourselves and where we are from.

Just a suggestion.  I also liked the other suggestions. There are so many things we could talk about under the "Paranormal." :)

You're welcome.

I've added https://curiouscat.cafe/warded-watercooler, which will serve as an overall off-topic discussion category. I've added a thread for introductions:

Perhaps stories could be a main catagory. Many people have stories of paranormal/supernatural occurrences happening to them or someone in their family, but they have been told that they are crazy and sharing these stories with people that have had similar scenarios happen could make them feel less crazy.

You could have a category entitled Cryptids BUT there is a catch to this category.  There are so many different ones that you may want make sub-categories or put them into individual categories or by state.  I personally would do it by state smiley

Oh, that's perfect. I actually was trying to find a category that encapsulated Bigfoot, Lock Ness, etc. I didn't know there was a term for it, that's great.

However, there is some crossover with Animals (non-human) and Folklore. Do you think those cover it, should I maybe replace Animals with Cryptids, or do you think it stands alone completely in additional to those two?

Thanks

Here's an idea for you, why don't you replace "animals" with "spirit animals" and the you could have cryptids separate.  There are so many cryptids out there---lizards, birds, humanoids, dogmen, werewolves, bigfoot, the list goes on and that's why I suggested by state.  There are so many that you can't just categorize them under "cryptids" without sub-categories :)

Thank you for your help :). I've decided to go ahead and remove Animals and add Cryptids:

https://curiouscat.cafe/cryptids

Sub-categories is a bit of a can of worms, which I'll need to think about more. The reason being is that we need to cover everywhere, not just the US, so then it becomes a matter of how to break it all down, by continent, country, state/province, etc. and it can become too much.

I'll keep it simple for now and see how the community evolves and adjust based on its needs.

But again, the term Cryptids has been a huge help as that was definitely one of the biggest pieces I wasn't sure how to complete.

I think the categories listed here are perfect. :)
